Dalrachney Lodge Hotel is a splendid 11 bedroom Highland hotel dating from 1845 which was originally built as a hunting lodge for one of Scotland’s largest estates & is located on the outskirts of the Inverness-shire town of Carrbridge only a short drive north of Aviemore. With breathtaking views of the Cairngorm Mountains & set within beautiful grounds with sweeping lawns and bordered with the Dulmain River, which the hotel has fishing rights for and owns the river bank, Dalrachney Lodge Hotel is positioned to the north side of the town. Boasting a Royal connection, Dlarachney Lodge Hotel has had the privilege of having King George Vth staying at the hotel with his gun-cart which states this now housed in Fochabers Museum. Carrbridge, which was described by Queen Victoria as “the jewel of the north” and with the surrounding area which now has national park status and is often referred to as the last great wilderness of Europe, offers some of the most breathtaking scenery that Scotland has to offer. The surrounding hills and mountains of the Cairngorms and Cromdales offer the peace and tranquillity of the great outdoors, with Nordic and Alpine skiing and curling in the winter, whilst in the summer months the slopes are home to the eagle, osprey, red squirrel and herds of wild deer. The location of the hotel offers guests the opportunity to enjoy some salmon fishing on the River Spey, stalking the hills in pursuit of wild deer, walking the many country paths or possibly a round or two of golf on the many fine courses that surround the area. Owned and operated by our clients since 1988, Dalrachney Lodge Hotel has operated as a fine country house hotel with self-catering cottage for many successful years and has built up a strong reputation for quality of service and accommodation on offer. A fine example of Edwardian architecture, Dalrachney Lodge Hotel is accessed via a long tree lined driveway with over 200 Scots Pine leading the way towards the main house and gardens. On first entering the property you are instantly aware that the owners of the hotel have paid close attention to detail in the furnishings and to the decoration of the property. Dalrachney Lodge Hotel has all the antique features and fine touches that you would expect of a Scottish country house hotel. The grand entrance hall with magnificent staircase leading to the 11 bedrooms, has been tastefully appointed and offers access to all the public areas and houses the hotels reception desk which is overlooked by a beautiful stained glass window. The magnificent front facing lounge with views over the hotels lawns, offers guests the sort of ambiance that can only be found in period hotels such as Dalrachney Lodge Hotel, with feature log fireplace, baby grand piano and period furniture. This high standard continues to the dining room (30 covers) with open fire and to the lounge bar which also offers dining for up to 30. As Dalrachney Lodge Hotel is located in what is known as “whisky country” the lounge bar offers a wide range of Whiskies for guests to enjoy, possibly after a day out touring many of the local distilleries. To the side of the main house Cairn self catering cottage offers two comfortable bedrooms, dining lounge, kitchen and bathroom. The self catering cottage is popular with families or small groups looking for long weekends or block bookings. The hotel has built up a strong reputation for quality of service & hospitality which has resulted in a large amount of repeat and recommended business. The hotel boats a healthy level of corporate, tourists, sporting & local trade, however it should be noted that due to our clients wish to take things a little slower over recent years, turnover is slightly down against previous trading years. We are advised that one area that could be greatly increased is the food sales. Historically, Dalrachney Lodge Hotel has had a strong level of income through the restaurant; however our clients made a conscious decision some time ago not to push this side of the business. New owners may also look to increase bar sales at the hotel. The sale of the Dalrachney Lodge Hotel represents a rare opportunity for new owners to own and operate a splendid country house hotel that has a long & successful history and one which is set amidst some of the country’s most beautiful scenery.
